Canada (pronounced /ˈkænədə/) is a country occupying most of northern North America, extending from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean. It is the world's second largest country by total area and its common border with the United States to the south and northwest is the world's longest. The land occupied by Canada was inhabited for millennia by various groups of Aboriginal people. Beginning in the late 15th century, British and French expeditions explored, and later settled along, the Atlantic coast. France ceded nearly all of its colonies in North America in 1763 after the Seven Years' War. In 1867, with the union of three British North American colonies through Confederation, Canada was formed as a federal dominion of four provinces. This began an accretion of provinces and territories and a process of increasing autonomy from the United Kingdom. This widening autonomy was highlighted by the Statute of Westminster of 1931 and culminated in the Canada Act of 1982, which severed the vestiges of legal dependence on the British parliament. A federation comprising ten provinces and three territories, Canada is a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state. It is a bilingual and multicultural country, with both English and French as official languages both at the federal level and in the province of New Brunswick. One of the world's highly developed countries, Canada has a diversified economy that is reliant upon its abundant natural resources and upon trade—particularly with the United States, with which Canada has had a long and complex relationship. It is a member of the G8, G-20, NATO, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, WTO, Commonwealth of Nations, Organisation internationale de la Francophonie, OAS, APEC, and United Nations. Q. Specifically, what does the law says about procedures to follow for a Danish citizen moving permanently to Canada? Where should he start? What papers does he need, from Canada, and Denmark? What can he do to get a Visa quickly, or to pass the citizenship test when he gets to Canada? Would it accelerate the entire procedure by obtaining a marriage license while in Canada? I have heard of the concept of an international "invitation" that a citizen can send to someone in another country, to fast-track their passage into the inviter's country. Is this the case for Canada and Denmark? Asked by Lal - Mon Apr 16 17:22:09 2007 - - 1 Answers - 3 Comments A. Here is a Canadian site dealing with immigration to Canada: The site includes a newcomers introduction to Canada and links to the different classes of immigration. The following link has the various immigration forms: There are no specific procedures (at least from Canada's standpoint) for immigrating from specific countries such as Denmark. Being able to speak & write both English and French (this is a huge plus), no criminal record, having job skills that are needed in Canada all count towards how quickly one's application will be processed. I'm not aware of any particular individual "invitations" although each province has their own "nomination" programs. Specifically, if the individual has certain skills that are of need in… [cont.] Answered by CBB - Tue Apr 17 17:02:19 2007 What is the IRS in Canada? What certification does it take to prepare taxes for Canada? Q. Also what does it take to become a CPA in Canada? Who is the advisory board for CPA's in Canada? Asked by Captain - Mon Mar 10 05:16:00 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Our equivalent of the IRS is the Canadian Revenue Agency, the CRA Truthfully, it doesn't take any certification to do taxes (some tax places hire people off the street, and give them some training) although there are courses available. CPA is an American designation, but it is respected in Canada. Many Canadians get one, and you can get a job with one (the US is our biggest trading partner, after all). There are three formally recognized financial designations in Canada: Chartered Accountant (CA); Certified General Accountant (CGA); and Certified Management Accountant (CMA). Answered by Diane - Mon Mar 10 09:00:01 2008 What is the warmest place in canada to live?
Q. Hi, What is the warmest part of Canada? Also where is the most enjoyable part in which to live? Is it hard to emigrate to Canada? I am British and was wondering if I could I get a transfer from the RAF to the Canadian Air force? Asked by NONAME - Mon Dec 17 12:22:19 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Your questions aren't that easy to answer, but here goes -- but first a caveat. After living for years in the Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba (much of that as an air force brat), I now live in Victoria, British Columbia, and am wickedly biased. The B.C. coast is simply glorious. Overall, the warmest part of Canada is southern Vancouver Island and B.C.'s lower mainland, including Vancouver. But we rarely get really hot here. For sustained hot summer temperatures, where you can sit in shirtsleeves at midnight, you'd have to move somewhere on the line from Montreal and Kingston to Toronto and Windsor. Enjoyment is, of course, subjective. Do you like big-city life? Do you feel most alive in the natural environment?
