How much money do you get with Georgia TANF assistance ?
Q. My boyfriend and I have an 11 month old son and we both lost our jobs. Neither of us have money in the bank and I was going to try to sign up for TANF. Does anyone know how much a month you will get?

A. The amount varies from state to state, but in my area TANF folks get around 200 a month. Plus you have to do 35 hours a week of things they assign you to do. Usually non paid work or skill building activities because you haven't found a job yet. Most women quickly do the math and figure out real quick they can earn more money by finding a job rather than having to run all over the city doing things to qualify for TANF and have a DHS worker sign off on them constantly.

Can I get tanf if I took a maternity leave from my job?
Q. I work parttime in retail. They do not offer benefits especially paid maternity leave. Can I qualify for this program in the state of georgia? Its until after the baby is born. Father of my child is not giving us child support. Help. I won't be work due to the fact that I'm too close to the baby's due date.

A. No. You have a job and are taking leave. Also, to apply for TANF, you must reveal the father's name, address and other info. They will take him to court to get child support. Instead of the state taking your child support, you might as well get it yourself.

will my boyfriend still be put on child support if he applies for food stamps while i am receivinng TANF?
Q. i am currently receiving assistance (TANF). if my boyfriend applies for assistance such as food stamps, will he still be enforced to put on child support, because he takes care of our two kids.

A. Yes. If the taxpayers are supporting your children,their father will be required to pay his share. If you receive TANF,he will have to pay it back.
