How much TANF do you receive being pregnant in the state of Washington?
Q. I am a bit ignorant when it comes to TANF; WIC and food stamps. I don't know many people with the assistance and it would help me a lot if you had any information about it. Thanks! Please no negative feedback. God bless

A. Probably you can find a state government website with correct information to help you with that. I wouldn't trust what people on yahoo answers say as being really well researched.

Receiving TANF can I still go on vacation in July with my family?
Q. With TANF you do hardcore labor and they help you find a job. Mostly volunteering and stuff 35 hours a week. Also my kid gets out of school at 2pm. Well that let me take a vacation with my family, and let me out in time to pick up my kid? If you've been on Tanf can you tell me about your experience?
Asked by Candis - Fri Mar 26 15:26:21 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. ok for one you do not do hard core labor... and no they will not let you go on vacation, you have to have all your hours in for the month or you get sanctioned, they take a hundred dollars for your first sanction, all your money for your second, and all your benifits for your third for three months.

How much cash aid (tanf) do Hawaii residents recieve?
Q. My family is relocating to Oahu and I was wondering since we receive cash aid for our two children as well as food stamps. My husband just graduated Nursing school with his BSN. He will be looking for work at a hospital/medical facility but we may need to rely on tanf assistance to supplement our income until he does start work as a Nurse. Thank you!
Asked by Adrastia - Mon Feb 15 05:10:49 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I would postpone your move to Hawaii right now. The economy is bad, and new nurses ar often going to the mainland to get jobs as the shortage is for experienced nurses, NOT for new nurses. The only jobs would be in longterm care facilities if at all. You may not be eligible for TANF for some reason and then you would be stuck. Plus you need first and last month's rent to move into a place (plus good credit), and that requires at least $2000 w/utilities etc.

How much money do you get with Georgia TANF assistance ?
Q. My boyfriend and I have an 11 month old son and we both lost our jobs. Neither of us have money in the bank and I was going to try to sign up for TANF. Does anyone know how much a month you will get?
Asked by Chay Chay - Sun May 3 02:11:50 2009 - - 1 Answers - 2 Comments
A. The amount varies from state to state, but in my area TANF folks get around 200 a month. Plus you have to do 35 hours a week of things they assign you to do. Usually non paid work or skill building activities because you haven't found a job yet. Most women quickly do the math and figure out real quick they can earn more money by finding a job rather than having to run all over the city doing things to qualify for TANF and have a DHS worker sign off on them constantly.

Can a new mother qualify for TANF if she extends her maternity leave?
Q. How exactly does that work? Can you get both at the same time? Can you get one if you are taking an extended maternity leave or are working only half time an considered "under employed"? In this instance the father is unknown so there would be no child support to collect.

A. For tanf u have to be in an low income house and live in chicago, atlanta, and mass. i dont think it counts for maternity leave becuz u have to be on that public assistance for a certain period of time and its only temp. until u can get a job and support ur family. becuz they put u in housing n set up programs so u can get a job.

Can me and my boyfriend apply for TANF together?
Q. If we both apply we will still qualify. He's going to take care of his daughter when she comes so it doesn't make sense to put him on child support. And I really want to go back to college. And please no rude comments i'm glad that you don't need tanf but don't put down the people who do because you do not know my situation.

Why does FAFSA want to know information on WIC, food stamps and TANF?
Q. Why does FAFSA want to know information on WIC, food stamps and TANF? Why does FAFSA want to know if the applicant received assistance from these programs? So basically if you claim acceptance of these programs intended for the "needy" it counts against the "needy" and is supplemented as an income, therefore fafsa will determine you are not as "needy"? Hmmm. Doesn't seem rite to me. Wow, that makes so much more sense! I'm relieved to know these programs benefit the recipient rather than go against! thank u!

A. The previous answer is not entirely correct. The theory is because you have already met the means test for these programs then the federal processor does not have to go through the trouble of running a means test to see if you are eligible for need based financial aid. Thus, if you answer "yes" to any one of these questions, your EFC is what we call an "auto zero" or you receive an EFC of 0. If you are not eligible for any of these programs, it does not mean that you are not eligible for financial aid. It just means that the federal processor will run your informaiton through the formula that determines your EFC. There are lots of people who are not eligible for these programs that have a calculated zero EFC. Your awarded financial… [cont.]

Could I get Temporary Assistance of Needy Families ( TANF)?
Q. Im single 24 years old with no kids, unemployed, and live on my own with no unemployment benefits. I dont think i will but i heard that people with my status have gotten these benefits before.
Asked by Nurse26 - Thu Mar 4 00:06:01 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. TANF is a family ( parent(s) and children) program to help care for children so no on that. You can possibly get food stamps (now called SNAP) and depending on your state there could possibly be some general assistance program ask when you apply for food stamps.

A. This is quite common and the reason I tell men to never pay child support directly to the mother. I had a California case a custodial father was ordered to pay back welfare money defrauded by the mother by claiming she had custody. I've seen a few hundred cases a year during the 90s, but not once was the mother ever ordered to pay the money back. His only option is to sue her in small claims court. Though he can't collect immediately, as long as he keeps the claim active, he can collect anytime she comes into money, including an inheretance. He can also use this in filing for a change in custody. If you want to learn how to do all this go to Dads House in Yahoo Groups. There's an educational manual in the file section that can teach… [cont.]
