These Are the Fastest Growing American Cities in 2019

Whether you want to start a business or are looking for a new job, the fastest growing cities are where you want to be. Fast growing cities are economic powerhouses: they’re places of opportunity and commerce. And they change from year to year. When people are moving into a city, there’s generally a specific reason.

These are the fastest growing cities in the United States in 2019…so far.

The Villages, FL

With a staggering population growth of 36.4% over the decade, The Villages is a swift-growing Florida community. Initially a retirement village, it’s become more like a bustling resort. And that’s been a boon for the surrounding service industry. The Villages is now home to 2,500 clubs and other entertainment venues, along with dozens of golf courses, spas, and resort-style amenities. This goes counter to the traditional idea that it’s the major metropolitan areas that always grow the fastest.

Midland, TX

An affordable location with a strong economy, Midland, TX is blessed with an astonishingly low unemployment rate. Many locations in Texas have grown by leaps and bounds, but none as impressively as Midland. Midland’s pay is higher than national averages, making it the perfect place for young professionals who are looking for an area to grow or to build a family.

Austin, TX

Perhaps predictably, Austin remains one of the fastest growing locations. The youthful, hip culture has come at a cost, though. While Austin’s job market is still booming, the cost of living there is also going up. No one knows how quickly Austin will continue to grow, but it shows absolutely no sign of slowing. For those who can afford the move, Austin is a place of opportunity.

St. George, UT

Less obvious than Austin, St. George UT has grown by 24% from 2010 to 2018. Utah is the fastest growing state right now, and St. George is the fastest growing city within it. Many are moving for more affordable housing, while also taking advantage of the quickly booming commerce. When people move into an area, the businesses do follow.

Greeley, CO

Colorado has been booming in recent years. As one of the healthiest states in which to live, many people have moved to Colorado for the weather and the welfare. Greeley’s job market is particularly solid, and many people have found themselves moving to Greeley rather than the more expensive locations such as Denver.

Redmond, OR

Oregon is another place where people are moving to for affordability and jobs. Redmond, OR was able to grow by more than 20% from 2010 to 2018, as many people moved into the location. Oregon is known for its mild weather, business-friendly attitudes, and low taxation, all of which make it a stunning place for an aspiring entrepreneur.

Raleigh, NC

As Raleigh has grown its amenities and its commerce, more people have been drawn to it. The growth in Raleigh has been driven both from in-state and cross-country moves, with many people enchanted by its picturesque setting as well as its large, metropolitan features. Job growth in Raleigh is nearly twice as much as the rest of the nation, making it an excellent choice for those who are seeking relocation for work.

Provo, UT

Provo’s growth has been mostly organic; rather than people moving into the state, there has been significantly more births than deaths. And that’s good news, because it means that the population is getting more youthful, and that’s driving commerce as well. Those who are interested in new opportunities and opening new businesses may want to look towards the opportunities that this growing population will provide, both now and in the upcoming decade.

Population growth naturally leads to an expansion of small business, which also leads to jobs and a stronger economy overall. With a better economy, businesses of all types can thrive, but the on-going stability of the location depends on the direction of its growth and its expansion. Nevertheless, the above cities are a fairly good bet for entrepreneurs and young professionals.
