When it comes to generating income most people tend to focus on their work. Though increasing your income doesn’t just need to happen between the hours when you punch in and punch out. Your free time can become just as valuable when it comes to making a few bucks.

It shocks me to find out that some of my subscribers are still not using ebay. Choosing instead to throw out their junk or spend the whole afternoon in their driveway. Ebay isn’t the only way to make a quick buck. A recent Time magazine article talked about a young mother named Jocelyn French. She’s using Twitters sponsored tweets program to make money while she puts her kids down for a nap. Essentially the program matches up Twitter users with companies big and small. Twitter users set their own prices on how much they want to get paid for sending out sponsored tweets, allowing users to put themselves in the driver’s seat.
So far Jocelyn has tweeted for Kmart, a parenting company and a college information website. Companies look for users with large amounts of followers. Another Twitter user, Robin Dance from Chattanooga ,Tenn., who has enrolled in the program has managed to amass 2,800-plus Twitter followers and has also tweeted for Kmart. But having a lot of followers isn’t the only metric in which companies choose Twitter users in the program. They also look at what the users focus is. For example if you’re an avid boater and send occasional tweets about your hobby then companies selling boating or fishing type materials may pay you to send out a message on their behalf.
Maria O’Brien, a stay-at-home mom in northern Virginia, has written 367 articles so far for eHow. “The stories are not hard to write,” she says. “A few hundred words total and you’re done.” On average Maria makes $24 per article and has earned upwards of $1500 a month from the company. Pay is determined primarily through Adsense revenue sharing, but page views, subject matter and user ratings can increase the amount of money one makes per article.
If housewives like this can make money in between their kid’s naptime there’s no reason why you can’t do the same. You don’t have to be a superstar or have any special skills to earn money in your free time. The best part about earning money in your free time is you can choose how much or how little you want to work and earn. If you want to earn just a few extra bucks one month to help meet a financial goal then you can work just one evening a week or a month. With loftier financial goals you can put more effort into it. It may start out slow but you can grow your income over time. Plus it’s a better way to spend your time than watching some rerun on TV.
